LGAV - Athens, El. Venizelos
Athens International Airport known as "Eleftherios Venizelos", which began operation on 29 March 2001, is the civilian airport that serves the city of Athens and the region of Attica. The airport is a major hub for many airline companies and serves more than 15 million travellers annually. It has become increasingly popular as a gateway to Asia and the Middle East. The airport has two runways (03L/R - 21R/L) and two terminals.
LGTS - Thessaloniki, Macedonia
Thessaloniki International Airport "Macedonia", formerly known as Mikra Airport, is located about 15 km SE of the city center of Thessaloniki. The airport is the largest state owned and operated airport in the country. It opened in 1930 and is the third-busiest airport in Greece, serving over 4 million passengers annually. It is the main airport of Northern Greece and serves the city of Thessaloniki (the second-largest city in Greece), the popular tourist destination of Chalkidiki and the surrounding cities of the region. Thessaloniki's airport has one main terminal and two runways (16/34 - 10/28) and serves as a hub for some airline companies.
LCLK - Larnaca
Larnaca International Airport, is located about 4km SW of Larnaca, and is Cyprus' main international gateway and the larger commercial airport in Cyprus. The airport was developed at the end of 1974, at a site, used in 1930s as an airfield and later as a military base. It started operation on 8 February 1975, and nowadays it used as a main hub by passengers travelling between Europe and Middle East. Larnaca International Airport consists of a newly constructed main terminal and one runway (04/22)!
OMDB - Dubai
Dubai International Airport, serves Dubai, the second largest city of the United Arab Emirates and is a major hub in the Middle East.The history of civil aviation in Dubai started in July 1937 when an air agreement was signed for a flying boat base for the aircraft of Imperial Airways. The Empire Flying Boats also started operating once a week flying East to Karachi and West to Southampton, England. In 1998 expansion works on terminal 2 were completed and was opened to public. Expansion works continue up until now, and once completed, the airport will have three terminals, two cargo terminals and more. Dubai International Airport has two runways (12L/R - 30L/R) reaching a length of 14.586ft (apx. 4.500m)!
LOWW - Vienna
Vienna International Airport is located 18 km SE of Vienna and is the busiest airport in Austria, and is used as a hub to many european destinations! Currently Vienna International Airport has three terminals, and two runways (16/34 - 11/29) and in the near future, due to the constant growth in passengers numbers, it have been decided, to enlarge the Vienna airport, by adding a new terminal and a new runway, as well as by building a new tower and a railway station!
EBBR - Brussels
Brussels International Airport is located 11 km NE of Brussels, Belgium, and is home to around 260 airline companies! Its history date back to the 1940s, and nowadays Brussels airport, consists of a main terminal and three runways (02/20 - 07R/L - 25R/L) and there you will also find a cargo terminal.
EIDW - Dublin
Dublin International Airport is located 10 km north of Dublin city. The construction of the airport at its current position, started in 1937 and the inaugural flight took place on 19 Janouary 1939. By 1947 three concrete runways were constructed, and throughout the 1950s the airport expanded, when runway extensions and terminal enhancments were carried out! Nowadays the airport consists of two terminals and three runways (10/28 - 16/34 - 11/29) and there are plans for a construction of a third terminal, possibly between the two parallel runways!
LEMD - Madrid, Barajas
Madrid - Barajas is the main international airport serving Madrid, Spain. The airport of Madrid, was first constructed in 1927, and opened its gates to international traffic in 1931, and in the days to come, up untill now, the airport expanded, and nowadays it consists of four terminals, four runways and more. Madrid International Airport, is used as a main hub to the Gran Canaria, Balearic Islands and to much more Mediteranean destinations!
TNCM - Princess Juliana
Princess Juliana International Airport, serves the Dutch part of the island of St. Maarten. The airport serves as a gateway for the smaller Leeward islands, including Anguilla, Saba, St. Barthelemy and more. The airport history starts in 1942 when it was used as a military airstrip. In 1964 the airport was remodeled and relocated, with a new terminal building, and therafter the facilities where updated in 1985 and 2001. The airport has only one runway reaching a length of 7.546ft (apx. 2.300 m), located very close to the nearby beach, and thus many spectacular pictures of low flying aircraft have been published from time to time!
KORD - Chicago O'hare
Chicago O'hare is major airport located in the NW corner of Chicago, Illinois and serves the city of Chicago and the Chicago area. The airport was initially constructed in 1942/3 as a manufacturing plant for Douglas C-54s! By the 1950s Midway airport (now serving as a secondary airport) become to crowded and O'hare was then expanded and is now used as the main airport! It consists of four terminals and seven runways. Future modernization plans are about the construction of more runways in order to reach the number of eight, including extensions as well as removal of already existing runways!
